Michelle Montague

Birmingham 2022 was Michelle Montague's first Commonwealth Games after missing out on Gold Coast 2018 due to injury. She competed in the Women's Freestyle Wrestling in the U75kg weight class.

Montague comes from a rugby and grappling back ground. She has played for the Waikato Women's rugby team and is an accomplished MMA athletes.

Her hometown is the small rural community of Matamata and she trains for wrestling in Hamilton with her coaches Pete Pouri-Lane and Dave Macbeth from the Hamilton Hawks Wrestling Club.
