New Zealand's Ainsley Thorpe has been forced to withdraw from the Individual Women's Triathlon at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games on medical grounds, due to a Covid infection.

Currently in Spain with her coach, Thorpe has mild symptoms and is receiving healthcare support. The team had been based in Girona for a pre-Games training camp.

The withdrawal will see New Zealand represented in the Individual Triathlon on 29 July by women Nicole van der Kaay and Andrea Hansen, and by men Tayler Reid, Dylan McCullough and Hayden Wilde.

Thorpe remains eligible to be considered for the Mixed Team Relay, which takes place in Birmingham on 31 July, pending assessment by the New Zealand Team doctors and RACEG (Results Analysis Clinical Expert Group).

Hockey Replacements Due to Injury

Training injuries have forced two changes to the New Zealand men's hockey team for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Jordan Cohen will replace Joe Morrison who sustained a groin injury in training, while Brad Read will replace Simon Yorston who suffered a broken hand, also in training.
