The Torchbearers, route and uniforms for the Olympic Torch Relay have been revealed. London 2012 revealed the places the Torchbearers will be carrying the Olympic Flame through as well as the uniforms the 8,000 people will wear. The Torchbearers were nominated by London 2012, as well as the three partners, Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung. Many of the nominated Torchbearers will be carrying the Flame through places close to where they are from, so family and friends can cheer them on as they do so. All Torchbearers have inspiring stories, which can be accessed, along with their names, through www.london2012.com/olympictorchrelay . The remaining Torchbearers will be confirmed in the next few months. The site also shows the streets which the Torchbearers will carry the Flame along, this enables communities to plan for when the Flame comes. "Today we bring the Olympic Torch Relay to life, with thousands of inspirational people from all over the UK being confirmed as Torchbearers," said London 2012 chairman Sebastian Coe. "We hope local communities come out and line the streets to cheer on the Torchbearers, and celebrate the Olympic Games coming to the UK." The Olympic Flame will also visit Dublin on June 6. The Torchbearers for the visit to the Irish capital will be confirmed in the coming month. Meanwhile, the uniform that 8,000 Torchbearers will wear celebrates the important role they are playing in the Games. The primary colour is white with grey and gold shards highlighting the energy of the Olympic Flame at the shoulder and neckline. The uniform was designed by Adidas, London 2012s official sportswear provider in association with the London 2012 uniform. The Torch Relay Crew and the Torch Security team will also wear a uniform as part of the Dress Rehearsal test event which will be held on April 20th. These three uniforms will work well together but one still clearly distinguish between the different roles the wearers will have. London Mayor, Boris Johnson added: "This is a big day in the Olympic preparations the Torch Relay will now come to life for millions of people, the excitement will be increasingly infectious as people all over the UK now start to plan where they're going to go to see the Olympic Flame and cheer on local Torchbearers." The Olympic Flame will have an 8,000 mile (+- 13,000 km) journey around the whole UK before arriving at the Olympic Stadium for the Opening Ceremony on July 27th. The Flame will travel by various means boat, cable car, hot air balloon, bicycle, motorbike and horseback and it will pass over 1,000 communities. Schools across the UK can now access free learning resources linked to the Olympic Torch Relay through Get Set, the official London 2012 education programme. Some resources include ideas for making Flame hats and shakers to welcome the Flame, an assembly presentation to get the school behind a Torchbearer and a film featuring one Get Set network school's preparations for the Relay.
