Paul Coll and Joelle King marched into the mixed doubles squash final with a comfortable 11-7, 11-4 win over top-seeded Indian pair of Saurav Ghosal and Karthik Pallikal.

In the final they will meet the English team of Alison Waters and Adrian Waller.

King is also still in the women’s doubles semi-finals, with Amanda Landers-Murphy. The pair, gold medallists four years ago on the Gold Coast, will play Malaysians Yiwen Chan and Ainaa Ampandi.

The semi-final win the mixed doubles assures King and Coll of either gold or silver and means that King, 33, will have won at least one medal – and often more – at the last four Commonwealth Games.

Coll has already had success in Birmingham, having justified his top seeding in winning the men’s singles.
