Ellie McKenzie

Ellie was born in Wellington and grew up in Dunedin. Being regular holidaymakers in Naseby, the McKenzies tried curling together as a family, motivating Ellie to take it further and learn how to curl correctly. In Year 9, Ellie started curling in a school team which played together for five years. Ellie has entered National and Junior Championships along with local competitions. She likes the different aspects of curling and how there are lots of different skills needed like strategy, sweeping, throwing and the accuracy needed.
 
In 2023, Ellie was selected as part of the New Zealand Youth Development Curling team to attend a Youth Curling Camp in Lillehammer.  She thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to travel while playing the sport she enjoys, meeting new people and developing her curling skills. 
 
In her spare time, Ellie is a leader in Girl Guides and loves to go tramping and camping. Ellie is excited to curl for New Zealand at Gangwon 2024, and will be competing in the Mixed Team event.
