SKY Sport is proud to be screening LIVE coverage of the UCI Track Cycling World Championships from April 4th-8th from Melbournes Hisense Arena adding to SKY Sports already strong 2012 Cycling portfolio. Because of cyclings huge viewer appeal especially in an Olympic year, and to enable Kiwis around the country to support their New Zealand Track Cycling Team, SKY Sport has committed to screening all five days of action LIVE, covering both the afternoon and evening sessions with selected Highlights. New Zealand has named its largest team ever for the championships, with a 20-strong squad to compete in all four disciplines for the first time mens and womens endurance and sprint events. The BikeNZ team will be the largest of any teams at the event and go in with three riders ranked No 1 on the World Cup rankings Alison Shanks (individual pursuit), Peter Latham (individual pursuit) and Simon van Velthooven (1000m time trial), while the womens team pursuit is ranked second and the mens team pursuit third. The team are hoping to match or better their record of four medals at the championships, achieved in 2010 and 2011. New Zealands last world championship Rainbow jersey winner was Alison Shanks (individual pursuit) in 2009.
