New Zealand Olympian #993 Ryan Archibald MNZM has been appointed New Zealand Olympic Committee Team Services Director.

Archibald brings both sporting and commercial acumen to the role, which will see him lead the organisations campaign planning and delivery for all New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games Teams.

The Aucklander earned 327 caps for New Zealand in an outstanding hockey career which spanned almost 20-years and included three Olympic Games and three Commonwealth Games.

Archibald was appointed a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2021 for services to hockey. He remains involved with the sport as the Board Chair of the NZ Hockey Players Association and Auckland Hockey.

More recently Archibald has been managing the Tech Industry team at Tataki Auckland Unlimited, leading a programme of action to grow Auckland’s technology industry, to create jobs and attract talent and investment to the region.

NZOC CEO Nicki Nicol says Archibald understands the high-performance sport environment and will bring an athlete lens to decision making.

“Ryan brought his impressive commercial and sport background to the application process and was a standout candidate,” said Nicol.

“He is also committed to growing our team culture, which he has experienced as an athlete. We look forward to Ryan keeping up our positive operational momentum as we build towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”

Archibald will join the NZOC on November 27th.
