Kiwi sport climber Sara Tetzlaff has found her rhythm early in Buenos Aires.

The 18 year old flew up the speed wall at the Youth Olympic Games to set a new personal best in training.

“My training runs are going really well. Setting that new PB was very exciting and definitely unexpected but it’s pretty cool.”

The sport is making its Olympic debut at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games before it’s contested at Tokyo 2020.

Tetzlaff, who is based in Tauranga, says she’s proud to be the first Kiwi sport climber to compete at an edition of the Olympic Games.

“It’s pretty special, and my mum, dad brother and aunty have all come over to watch me which is awesome.

“Having sport climbing in the Olympics is really cool, it’s inspiring lots of young kids to get into the sport too which is neat.”

Sport climbing begins on the first day of the Games, October 7th.
