Aucklanders will catch a glimpse of whats ahead for the New Zealand Olympic team as a traditional London Black Cab takes to the city streets this morning. The cab, with double gold medallist swimmer Danyon Loader at the wheel, is sporting the silver fern and features signage asking New Zealanders to share their proudest moment with the Olympic team. Chef de Mission for London 2012 says more will be revealed at the campaigns official launch this evening. Our new campaign is exciting and will make New Zealanders proud, he said. The approach is very different to anything weve done before and were looking forward to Kiwis being part of it. Currie says passers-by can also take a photo of the black cab and upload it to www.nz2012.com to win prizes. This is just one of many ways New Zealanders will be able to take part in the campaign, he said. The New Zealand Olympic campaign will be launched this evening at a champagne event on Aucklands waterfront attended by Olympic medallists and other outstanding New Zealanders. The Black Cab will be seen on the road around Auckland before it heads to Wellington next month and around the rest of New Zealand ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games. A replica fleet is also on the road in London. The London Olympic Games will take place July 27 August 12 2012. New Zealand will field a team of approximately 190 athletes in 17 sports. Team selections will take place from late 2011 through until June 2012.
