The Search continues - Were still looking for Olympians

Last week, we presented the family of our first female Olympian, Violet Walrond, with Olympic pin number nine. While more than 80 percent of our nations Olympians have been presented with their awards and pins, there are still those who have not able to be contacted.

Of New Zealands first twenty athletes, the next of kin of just seven have been located. New Zealand Olympic Committee Secretary General and IOC Member Barry Maister says Every New Zealand Olympian has made a special contribution to New Zealand culture and history. The NZOC would like to recognise all our Olympians for their achievements by including them in our celebrations and presenting them with a uniquely numbered pin and commemorative certificate.

A New Zealand Olympian is an athlete who has been both selected and accredited into the team at the Olympic Games. Athletes have been numbered alphabetically by games.

Do you know of any of the missing Olympians? Please download the list to check. If you know families of Olympians yet to receive their pins, or people who can assist with contact details for any next of kin are invited to contact the New Zealand Olympic Committee on 04 385 0070.
