Defending women’s doubles squash champions Joelle King and Amanda Landers-Murphy got their campaign off to a comfortable start by beating Mary Fung-A-Fat and Ashley Khalil of Guyana 11-3, 11-8.

The New Zealanders now run into the formidable English pairing of Georgina Kennedy, who has just won the women’s singles title, and Lucy Termel, who pushed King so close in a 90-minute quarter-final.

King was back on court later in the day to play mixed doubles with men’s singles winner Paul Coll, and they were far too strong for Pakistan’s Faiza Zafar and Nasir Iqbal, winning 11-4, 11-3.

In an earlier men’s doubles, brothers Temwa and Lwambe Chileshe won their first round match against Papua New Guinea’s Feonor Siaguru and Suari Madaka  11-8, 11-9.
