We have been heartened to see so many of you stand up for equal rights, for freedom, fairness, equality and justice, in light of what has been taking place in the United States.

As athletes you have a voice and a platform, and the opportunity to be a leader and stand up for what you believe is right.

We are privileged to be involved in sport, which unites people from all over the world, and from all walks of life.

We fully encourage you to express your values, and those that underpin the New Zealand Team and Olympic and Commonwealth Sport.

The Olympic Charter states ‘the enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Olympic Charter shall be secured without discrimination of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.’

Thank you for using your voice to help make the world a better place.
