U64kg weightlifter Megan Signal has broken five New Zealand records and collected three medals at the Apia Pacific Games.

The 29-year-old Aucklander snatched 89kgs and clean and jerked 114kgs to win silver in the clean and jerk, bronze in the snatch and bronze overall.

“Today went really well, it was a PB across all three disciplines so I definitely can’t complain,” said Signal.

“I do always want more but I walk away pretty proud of myself.”

The medals are New Zealand’s first at this edition of the Pacific Games. The results at the Pacific Games weightlifting competition provide ranking points towards qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Signal will now have a short break before contesting the Weightlifting World Champs in Thailand in September.
