Today was the last day of the 1st Winter Youth Olympic Games. New Zealand's young athletes woke up at 9am so they could attend the Mountain Snow and Fun workshop up on the Nordkette mountain. After some gentle coaxing, the team headed up on the cable cart up to the top of the mountain. There were five snow stations for the athletes to participate in. These stations included tobogganing down a hill and creating a snow sculpture. Everyone had a fantastic time up the mountain. The village has been a flurry of activity tonight, with athletes, coaches and officials from every nation around the world packing up and getting ready to travel home. Ice Hockey Skills Player Callum Burns has been selected as New Zealand`s flag bearer for the Closing Ceremony which is taking place. Peter Wardell says that Callum was selected for his `outstanding results in his competition and he is a respected athlete among the team`. Parents Ross and Sharon Burns are over the moon and say that Callum`s nana will be very proud! The legacy of the Winter Youth Olympic Games has begun! We look forward to watching our future athletes compete in this truly special competition.
