Today the snow fell in Innsbruck, transforming the streets into a winter wonderland! First up was Piera Hudson in the slalom. Piera performed brilliantly and finished 15th place in a very experienced field. Coach Jonathan Rice says that `Piera did very well to move up 20 places in challenging conditions`. Piera has now finished her competition and Harry Price-Izard will compete in his slalom final tomorrow. The curlers had a busy day today with their mixed team competition. Kelsi Heath partnered with Canadian Thomas Scoffin competed in the first game of the day. This combination had a fantastic game, and won convincingly with a score 9-5. Luke Steele paired with Johanna Heldin of Sweden won their heat with a score of 9-8. In the third heat, David Weyer paired with Italian Denise Pimpini, had a nail-biting finish and lost 5-8 against a Czech Republic and Great Britain combination. Eleanor Adviento & Swiss partner was our last curler competing for the day, unfortunately going down (7-8) fighting against the USA/GBR pairing. Young Ambassador Sarah van Ballekom attended a question and answer session with IOC President Jacques Rogge. She asked him which sport he would compete in if he was attending the London 2012 Olympics as an athlete. Rogge said 'that as a former sailing competitor he held this event close to his heart. However, at the Rio 2016 Olympics he would want to compete in Rugby 7s.' Rogge also said that the `Youth Olympic Games had exceeded his expectations` and he it made him very happy to see `athletes with constant smiles on their faces`. Tomorrow brings more curling in the knock out competition and Harry on the slopes in slalom.
