Give It Your Best Shot and Win!

Sure, our throwers make it look easy, but did you know a shot put weighs up to 7.2kg?

With the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games kicking off at the end of July, the New Zealand Team want to give New Zealanders a ‘shot’ at shot put and be in to win some epic prizes. This is made possible with the support of Athletics New Zealand and our Team partners Sport New Zealand and High Performance Sport New Zealand. Thanks also to Jennian Homes, and in Auckland Barfoot & Thompson.

We’ll be touring four New Zealand cities on the following dates:

Auckland’s Britomart - Tuesday 14 June – 10am – 2pm

Rotorua’s Waterfront – Saturday 18 June – 10am – 2pm

Wellington’s Queens Wharf – Thursday 23 June – 10am – 2pm

Christchurch’s Oxford Terrace – Friday 1 July – 10am – 2pm

At our pop-up shot put circles, you’ll get a demonstration of how it’s done and have the chance to see some of our athletes up close and personal.

We’re after the best shot in each city - there’s four categories for both adults and kids so there’s something for everyone - throw it the furthest and you’ll be in to win!
