The New Zealand Olympic Committee is inviting New Zealanders to get among the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games action at NZHQ, the first-ever New Zealand Team fanzone, hosted at the Cloud in Auckland.
Doors to NZHQ open at 11am Saturday 24 July, in time to see our rowers take to the water with the Coxless Pair Rower Heats – Women at 12.50pm and Men at 1.20pm.
New Zealand artistic gymnast Misha Koudinov is a hopeful in the Artistic Individual All-Around Men’s event at 1pm, at the same time as the New Zealand Men’s Hockey Team take on India.
Fans will also see cyclists Patrick Bevin and George Bennett race, boxer David Nyika take to the ring, swimmers Zac Reid and Lewis Clareburt hit the pool and the New Zealand Women’s Football Team take to the pitch.

With nine screens spread across multiple viewing areas streaming Sky Television’s broadcast of the New Zealand athletes’ competitions, friends, whanau and fans of the New Zealand Team won’t miss the excitement of New Zealand’s athletes competing on the world stage.
NZHQ will be open for the 17-days of the Tokyo Olympic Games, from Saturday 24 July to Sunday 8 August, with hours determined by the New Zealand Team’s competition schedule.
Through NZTeamHQ.Mobi, fans can register their attendance to NZHQ and receive updates on what’s happening each day in the NZHQ.
New Zealand Olympic Committee Chief Executive Kereyn Smith acknowledges the considerable support of Team partners, especially Sport New Zealand, Auckland Unlimited and major sponsor ANZ, in making NZHQ possible.
“As no international spectators are permitted in Tokyo to support their Teams, we wanted to provide a space for our Team’s friends and whanau to gather, connect with each other, and follow the Team. While it’s not the same as being there, it’s as close as we can get to our Team in these challenging Covid times.”
For those wanting to immerse themselves in the action, there is an activity zone allowing fans to try out virtual Olympic sports and plenty of photo opportunities.
There will also be live crosses to the New Zealand Team in Tokyo, while a school programme will see 6,000 Auckland school students visit NZHQ to meet New Zealand Olympians and learn more about the New Zealand Team and the Olympic Games.
A range of food and beverages will be available for fans, providing New Zealand hospitality while they’re cheering on the New Zealand Team.
The NZOC is encouraging fans traveling to NZHQ to take advantage of Auckland Transport’s offer of free public transport on buses and trains after 9pm up to 1 August to coincide with the Elemental Akl Festival. Upon arrival at NZHQ, fans will check in at reception where those over 18-years will receive RFID wristbands enabling entry in and out of the venue.
