Marina Erakovic hasnt had the happiest time of it lately on the professional tennis tour.

She has struggled for two years to overcome injuries after climbing into the worlds top 50 in 2008.

However, the 22-year-old Aucklander is still one of the big names in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games tennis tournament.

Her current world ranking of 321 has earned her a sixth seeding in the singles and today had no trouble winning her first round match 6-1, 6-0 against little-known Nikkita Fountain of the Bahamas.

The most challenging aspect of the match for Erakovic was not her opponent, who does not even have a world ranking, but the 31-degree midday heat.

Erakovics next opponent is Jacklyn Lambert of Bermuda.
