New Zealand’s representatives were unable to make an impression in the diving finals.

In the men’s 10m platform dive, Nathan Brown finished ninth of the 12 finalists with a score of 397.35. Hi countryman Luke Sipkes was 12th with 279.30.

The winner, Cassiel Rousseau of Australia, tallied a massive 501.30.

It was pleasing that both New Zealand divers qualified for the final.

Brown was eighth in qualifying with a total of 368.60 points, and Sipkes snuck through in 12th position with 311.15. There were 14 competitors.

Maggie Squire missed out on making the women’s 3m springboard final.

With 12 spots available in the final and 13 in qualifying, Squire was the diver who missed out. Her total of 190.00 was not high enough to get her through. The top qualifier was Australian Maddison Keeney with 327.90 and she went on to win the gold medal.
