New Zealand 3m springboard diver Elizabeth Cui didn’t get quite the birthday present she was looking for today, but was rewarded with an Olympic debut the same day she turned 19.

She found the standard among the 28 divers to be very high and could manage to finish just 24th. The top 18 qualified for the final.

Cui’s dives scored 48.00, 51.30, 63.00, 54.00, 57.00, for a total of 273.30.

The leading diver in the qualifying competition was Canadian Jennifer Abel, who scored 373.00, with her worst dive scoring 70.50.
