Hamish Carter And Barbara Kendall Announced as New Zealand Youth Olympic Teams Role Models Former New Zealand Olympic champions, Hamish Carter and Barbara Kendall announced their positions as Athlete Role Models for the inaugural 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. Their new roles will see both Carter and Kendall attend the Youth Olympic Games to inspire and encourage the team of 58 promising New Zealand athletes. The Youth Olympic Games aims to provide young athletes with an international sporting platform. Of his appointment, former Gold medalist winner, Hamish Carter says; I am honoured to be a role model to the New Zealand team. I believe that the Youth Olympic Games is a vital step in celebrating the power of sport for younger generations and I hope to share my former Olympic story with the talented kiwi athletes to help them achieve their dreams of gold. The Youth Olympic Games isnt just about competing on the world stage, it also includes a Culture and Education Programme designed to engage and encourage athletes to be true champions by adopting the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.
