EVENT: Sailing: Laser

Sam has established himself as one of the world's best Laser sailors, highlighted by the bronze medal he won at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The 28-year-old has achieved incredible consistency in what is arguably the most competitive class and up until the end of 2019 hadn't finished outside the top six in the previous two years.

Sam, who hails from Tauranga, will be joined in Tokyo by younger sister Molly, who sails with Alex Maloney in the 49erFX, and the pair spent seven years of their childhood sailing around the world.

This will be his second Olympic Games and, once again, he will be coached by Mark Howard.
