Hawkes Bay rider Regan Gough comes from a highly successful cycling family where cousin Westley was a double Olympic medallist on the track in Beijing and London.
Gough won two silver medals at the Junior Worlds in 2013 at 16 years old, before returning the following year in Korea to claim four medals, including the rainbow jersey in the points race and Madison. His performances earned him the Emerging Talent honours at the Halberg Awards in 2015.
He was fast-tracked into the team pursuit at 18 years and was part of the World Championship winning team in Paris in 2015. He missed selection for the Cycling World Championships in 2016 with health issues but returned to compete at the Rio Olympic Games and was an integral part of the team pursuit combination that won silver at the World Championships in 2020.
