Westlake Boys' student Murdoch McIntyre was runner-up in the 2000m Steeplechase at the Compulsory Trial in Vanuatu and placed 2nd at the 2018 North Island Cross Country Championships.

McIntyre also placed 2nd at the 2018 NZ Cross Country Championships in the U18 category.
