Marshall represented New Zealand at the 2017 London World Championships, having earlier attended the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju, South Korea.
He also represented New Zealand at four Oceania Championships winning medals at all four, including two gold medals. Marshall has won eight New Zealand discus championship titles.

Marshall had a breakthrough year in 2017, improving his best from 59.87m to his current personal best of 64.55m, in Salinas CA, to qualify for his first World Championships.
Marshall works as a social worker in Auckland and is coached by Matt Dallow.
