Joe Wright

Rio 2016 was Joe's first Olympic Games having qualified the men's eight for Rio at the 2015 World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette where the crew finished in fourth place.

In 2013 and 2014 Joe was an U23 World Champion in the men's eight.

Joe was born in Wellington and began rowing at Onslow College after following his father and older brother into the sport.

Joe now represents Wellington Rowing Club and is coached by New Zealand men's eight coach, Noel Donaldson.

Outside of rowing Joe enjoys mountain biking and restoring old cars.
