All set to make his Commonwealth Games debut, Geordie Beamish has enjoyed an outstanding 2021/22 season, setting New Zealand Indoor records for 3000m (7:39.50), 5000m (13:12.53) and 5km road (13:36).
Raised in Hawkes Bay, Beamish was coached by the influential Alec McNab during his time as a Whanganui Collegiate student.
A former New Zealand U20 1500m and 3000m champion he spent five years at Northern Arizona University until more recently moving to join the On Athletics squad based in Boulder, Colorado. Beamish is currently coached by three-time Olympian and former US 5000m record-holder Dathan Ritzenhein.
On his debut in the Black Singlet, he finished tenth in the 3000m final at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade.
