She first won the title and set the junior world record at the 2013 FINA World Junior Championships in Dubai and successfully defended her 50m backstroke title and set a new junior world record of 27.81 at the 2015 Championships in Singapore. Her time set a New Zealand Open record, going under the 28 second mark for the first time.

At the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships she was a semi-finalist in the 50m freestyle and 7th in the 100m backstroke.
During the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa, she won gold in the 50m backstroke and silver in the 100m backstroke and 50m freestyle.
Gabrielle won the only NZ medal at the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Maui, Hawaii, claiming the bronze in the 50m freestyle with a time of 25.36.
In 2017 Gabrielle qualified for the 17th FINA World Championships in the 50m freestyle she also won the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke and was second in the 100m backstroke at the New Zealand Open Championships.
Gabrielle was offered a full scholarship to attend and swim at the University of Georgia, with study commencing in January 2018.
