Corbin Strong is a young rider of immense ability who emerged from the powerful Southland cycling system after following his family into the sport.
He became a junior world champion in the team pursuit in Switzerland in 2018 and moved immediately into the high-performance programme in Cambridge.
Strong was selected for his first elite world championships in Berlin in 2020 and finished with a silver medal in the team pursuit. The following day, the 19-year-old upset some seasoned professionals to win the rainbow jersey in the points race.
Strong won gold in the men's scratch race at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
