EVENTS: Men's 200m, 100m and 50m Backstroke

Andrew Jeffcoat won gold in the men's 50m backstroke at his first Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022.

Jeffcoat broke the national record to finish just ahead of South African Pieter Coetze in the final. The 23-year-old was one of the top ranked athletes in his event heading to Birmingham and was the second fastest qualifier for the final.

Racing for Pukekohe Swim Club under coach Mitch Nairn, Jeffcoat is a backstroke specialist.
