New Zealand's biggest contingent so far went to the French alpine resort of Grenoble. Four of the five men, Robert Palmer, Tom Huppert, Mike Dennis and Murray Gardner put in creditable performances, while the fifth man, Chris Womersley, younger brother of Cecilia Womersley, had to sit out the Games due to injury. Anne Reid and Margot Blakely also made up the team, though Blakely crashed in the slalom and couldn't start her other two events. Palmer achieved the best result of the team, 42nd in a field of 73 in the downhill.
