The Beijing Olympic Games will open on 8th August 2008 at 8pm. Athletes from 205 countries around the world will gather together in a spirit of excellence, friendship and respect to take part in the world’s largest sporting festival. At Beijing 2008 New Zealand will celebrate 100 years of Olympic History and we will prepare to welcome our 1000th Olympian.

A total of thirty-seven competition venues will be used for Beijing 2008 located in a total of seven cites in China. Most venues are located host city Beijing. Hong Kong will host Equestrian, Qindao sailing and Shanghai, Tianjin, Qinhuangdao and Shenyang will host the football competition.

New Zealand will send one of its biggest teams ever to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games - some 300 athletes, coaches and managers.
