Simon Child made his debut for the Black Sticks in 2005 aged just 16. He was still attending Kings College at the time and since then he has quickly secured his place amongst our best strikers. Simon is often used as an impact player – his raw talent often causing trouble for tiring defences.

Glasgow will be the third Commonwealth Games for Simon who was a member of the New Zealand team that competed at the 2006 games in Melbourne and the 2010 games in Delhi where the team placed 3rd. Simon has also represented New Zealand at the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games. Simon currently has 206 test caps, he plays in the striker position and his shirt number is 6. Simons younger brother Marcus will also be joining the team heading to Glasgow.
