Shane Reed is one of the ‘nice guy’s on the world circuit and one of the quiet achievers. The 34 year old has been racing for longer than he might care to remember but there is no doubt he is in the best shape of his life in 2008 with an impressive win at the Oceania Championships already to his name.
Snuffie as he is affectionately known is not one for grandiose statements or TV interviews and prefers the quiet family life away from the limelight but no one can doubt his determination and longevity in the sport.
A change to coach Brendan Downey has inspired a revival of sorts in his career with Beijing a major motivation in that continued drive to succeed at the top level. With a CV that includes over 70 World Cup races behind him, Reed knows what it takes to succeed at the top.
His best performances include 1st in the ITU Noosa 1999 and 1st in the ITU Hungry 2004.
In 2007 Shane was 4th in the IShigaki ITU BG World Cup, 8th in the Mooloolaba ITU BG World Cup, 9th in the Edmonton ITU BG World Cup, and16th in the Des Moines ITU BG World Cup. His year end ranking was 25.
