Glasgow 2014 was the second Commonwealth Games for Shane (The Flying Mullet), after his debut at Delhi 2010.

Glasgow was a stellar Commonwealth performance for the 25-year-old Timaru native, winning gold in the scratch race and bronze in the men's 4000m team pursuit.

Shane's previous results include a 1st at the 2007 Sydney Olympic Festival and in 2013 Shane came 1st in Stage 2 Rás Tailteann and Stage 3 Suir Valley competitions in Ireland. In 2014 Shane placed 2nd in Stage 3 Ronde de I’Oise Nanteuil-le-Haudouin competition in France. He also competed at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
