Niniwa debuted for New Zealand in 2001. Since then she has developed into an experienced strike forward who has played over 130 test matches for the Black Sticks. She is a key member of the Black Sticks penalty corner bracket and a fearsome striker of the ball. She leads by example on the field and is hungry to score goals. The Beijing Olympic Games will be Niniwa’s second Olympics having competed at the Olympics in Athens in 2004. Niniwa lives and plays for Wellington in the New Zealand Hockey League. She was voted the most valuable women’s player in the 2007 New Zealand Hockey League.
