Glasgow 2014 was the second Commonwealth Games for Gemma, adding a bronze to her Games campaign results. Gemma helped the team earn bronze against Trinidad and Tobago in the bronze and fourth placing game. She represented New Zealand at the 2010 games in Delhi where the team placed 2nd

Gemma was selected into the Black Sticks team after some standout performances throughout the 2007 National Hockey League as well as her performance on the NZ team at the 2007 Sydney Youth Olympic Festival, where the team earned bronze. She made her debut for New Zealand in 2008 against Korea, before going on to compete at two Olympic Games: 2008 Games in Beijing and 2012 Games in London where the team placed 4th. Gemma is a midfielder and striker, she currently has 175 test caps and her shirt number is 22.
