Dean Couzins

A hugely experienced and highly regarded defender who has played 148 tests for the Black Sticks and is still only 26. Born in Christchurch but now playing for Auckland he was part of the 2002 Commonwealth Games Silver medal team and also rates his appearance at the 2004 Athens Olympics as one of his career highs. Couzins has developed into a highly organised defender who possesses superb vision and a great pass. His interests outside of hockey include water-skiing and chilling with his mates, while his advice to young players is to do the simple things well.
