Beau-James began skiing when he was three years old and soon settled into his job of following in his elder brothers' footsteps and becoming a professional freeskier. In 2011 Beau-James was selected for the Snow Sports NZ Winter Performance Programme, competing in freeski slopestyle and halfpipe.

Beau-James very quickly made his mark on the international circuit, claiming fourth place at the Youth Olympic Games in 2012, 16th at the AFP World Championships and seventh in the Freeski Open of New Zealand. During the 2012-2013 Northern Hemisphere season he placed eighth in slopestyle at the World Championships in Norway and fifth in the men’s halfpipe finals at Dew Tour’s iON Mountain Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado. Beau-James is currently ranked 15th in the world in Halfpipe and 24th in Slopestyle.

Beau-James is proud to be representing New Zealand on the world stage and is hoping for a career-best performance in Sochi in 2014.

Hobbies outside of freeskiing include skateboarding and filming videos of people skateboarding.
