The International Olymipic Committee (IOC) Annual trophy was established by the IOC in 1985 in order to promote the teaching of Olympism. Every year the IOC Executive Board selects a different theme. The selection of the recipient and the awarding of the trophy are entrusted to the National Olympic Committee to recognise a person or institution of their choice.
To be awarded to a personality who has proven his/her sense of fairplay or an institution that has promoted sport and fairplay in its country or worldwide. |
Awarded to a personality within the world of media (e.g. journalist, broadcaster, electronic press, photographer) who has promoted sport and Olympism at a national or international level. |
Awarded to a person or organisation which has excelled in the sporting domain (e.g. administrator, volunteer, coach and athlete) or has promoted sporting excellence. |

Awarded to a person or organisation that has promoted the health and positive conditioning both physiologically and psychologically, of individuals through sport. The person or organisation should have promoted the role that sport plays in improving the quality of life.
