Tony Hall is based in Canterbury and has an extensive background in business, economic development, education and sport. Tony was appointed to the NZOC board in 2012.
In 2004 Tony became a Board Member for Lincoln University Council and is now Pro-Chancellor. He is also the Chairman of the Community Colleges New Zealand Council, Commissioner on the Tertiary Education Commission Board and was founding Chairman of North Canterbury Economic Development Trust. Tony is a Trustee and Chairman of the Partnership of Excellence Life Sciences, Massey-Lincoln; a Trustee on the Rangi Ruru Girl’s School Trust Board and a director of Core Education Ltd.
His governance roles in Sport include board member of both Canterbury West Coast Sports Trust and the North Canterbury Sport and Recreation Trust (Chair 2006-2011).
In 2008 Tony was appointed Chef de Mission for the Winter Olympics; however in April 2009 he relinquished the position due to his wife’s illness. Tony continues to be actively involved in support and sponsorship of disabled winter athletes, carrying on his wife Gilly’s work with Adaptive Snowsports New Zealand. He is currently supporting the progress of Adam Hall paralympian gold medalist and Corey Peters an emerging sit-ski athlete.
Tony was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2007 for services to the community.
His ongoing interests include multi-sport, family, sailing, up-keep of a small farm and endeavoring to keep fit!
