Natalie Wiegersma has withdrawn from the finals of the womens IM400 that were scheduled to take place in Delhi this afternoon.

Wiegersma qualified for the final during heats this morning nine seconds outside her best time. She had begun to feel unwell last night but sought medical advice after her race this morning.

According to New Zealand team medical staff, Wiegersma has a generic stomach bug and is expected to recover fully within 24 hours. The bug has not been reported in other parts of the team and there is no indication where the bug may have come from.

Head Coach Mark Regan says it is disappointing for Weigersma. She was looking forward to this race but there is no point her competing in her current condition. Shes proven herself as a star in the making at these games and shell be in good shape for her next competition later this year.

Regan is not attributing the source of the bug to the pools at the competition venue.

The womens IM400 was to be Wigersmas final event at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games. Ends
