The New Zealand womens table tennis team broke Indian hearts on the opening day of the Commonwealth Games.
The New Zealanders fought back from a match deficit of 2-1 to beat India 3-2, despite the overwhelmingly noisy support for the home team from a capacity crowd.
Karen Li, the New Zealand No 1, battled back from 2-1 down to beat Shamini Kumaresan in five, which left the fate of the tie in the hands of New Zealander Annie Yang and her Indian opponent Madhurika Suhas Patkar.
Yang somehow managed to block out the crowd and pulled through to win in a 3-2 nailbiter.
Earlier today the New Zealanders Li, Yang and Yang Sun hardly raised a sweat in beating Ghana 3-0.
Li had a great day, going through unbeaten.
New Zealand have just Sri Lanka left in their pool matches and will enter that match as heavy favourites.
