Skeleton racer Rhys Thornbury will head into his first race of the 2018 PyeongChang Games tomorrow confident that training has gone well and he can be competitive on the track. He has recorded PBs over the course of his eight training runs in the past week and was one of the fastest on track during yesterday’s official training session.

“I’m feeling really good. Training has been going really well and I’ve been sliding fast. I started off the week with some competitive times and it’s stayed that way.

“I’m as confident going in to this race as I’ve ever been. It’s been my best build up ever.”

However, as Rhys well knows “that’s training, not racing.”

There are some definite tricky sections to look out for on this track, with corner two particularly technical as well as the exit from corner nine.

Rhys also knows that he isn’t the fastest in the push start but has a plan:

“I’ll be as competitive as I can be and then hope to claw back time from the fastest guys.”
