New Zealand skeet shooter Chloe Tipple just missed out on qualifying for the women’s skeet final today.

The 26-year-old Tipple finished 13th in the Rio Olympics in 2016 and came into the Commonwealth Games with high hopes. She recorded 23, 23 and 22 in her three rounds for a total of 68.

For a time the New Zealander hovered around the top six qualifying zone, but in the final washdown she was one point away and finished seventh.

The leading qualifier was Cypriot Panagiota Andreou, who totalled 74, a Commonwealth Games record. Ironically, Tipple is coached by a Cypriot, Georgios Achilleos, a former shooting world champion.
