On 11 August 2011 the nations business leaders will again have the opportunity to engage with the nations decision makers and high profile Olympic and Commonwealth athletes at the second Prime Ministers Olympic Gala Dinner. The inaugural Prime Ministers Olympic Gala was exceptionally successful, with 270 tickets sold and a total of $130,000 raised to help the New Zealand Olympic Committee send teams to Olympic and Commonwealth Games and to promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect. Among other things, this significant contribution has helped launch the exciting ASB Olympic Schools product which creates sporting opportunities and promotes the Olympic values to young New Zealanders. This years Prime Ministers Olympic Gala Dinner will once more raise funds for the important work of the New Zealand Olympic Committee. As an independent, not for profit organisation the donations of our benefactors and members of the New Zealand business community are vital. As a nation we have been saddened by the tragedy of the Canterbury Earthquake, but we have also been incredibly proud of the people of Christchurch and their capacity to inspire each other to rebuild and recover. At this years Prime Ministers Olympic Gala Dinner an exclusive London Olympic Games package will be auctioned, with all proceeds dedicated to the support of the high performance athletes based in Christchurch.
