A strong time at the Swimming World Championships has seen New Zealand secure a 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay quota spot for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The New Zealand women's team placed 10th in the Women's relay in a time of 8:03.28s at the FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. The team had to make the top 12 to secure a spot at the Tokyo 2020.

Erika Fairweather swam the first 200m in 1:58.84s to set a new PB. The time is also a New Zealand 15-years Age Group Record.

Carina Doyle swam the second 200m in 2:00.92 seconds. Chelsey Edwards swam the third 200m in 2:01.88 seconds and Eve Thomas swam the last 200m in 2:01.64 seconds.
