New Zealand mountain bike rider Rosara Joseph was among the 82 athletes that raced at the Hadleigh Farm Mountain Bike International on July 31 which has been hailed a successful Mountain Bike test event for the London Olympics. The event was part of the London Prepares series that is testing event venues ahead of the London 2012 Olympics. In the womens race Joseph completed the course with a time of 0:09:23 to place her in 13th for the event. The event proved popular attracting 5000 spectators wanting to see these elite athletes perform at the Olympic Venue. The venue has been designed on an open hillside, compared to the usual forested circuits, so the spectators were able to see the athletes ride from start to finish. Dave Currie, New Zealand Olympic Team Chef de Mission will attend a number of test events in August . The visit is designed to check venue functionality and give high performance teams an invaluable look at how systems and processes will work at the Olympic Games next year. Currie will join New Zealand athletes and support teams at the Junior World Rowing Championships on the Olympic course at Eton Dorney, the ITU World Series Triathlon test event in Hyde Park as well as the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta 2011.
