An exhibition that chronicles a period in international and New Zealand history that impacted on the 99 athletes selected to represent our country at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow.

The invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union prompted a series of responses that would have long lasting consequences amongst members of the sporting fraternity.

For 34 athletes, the Moscow Games were their first and only opportunity to represent New Zealand at the Olympics.

The exhibition runs 5 September 2010 to January 2011 at the Olympic Museum Gallery, 4 Queens Wharf, Wellington (closed Saturdays).

Admission is free.
