Auckland swimmer Corey Main couldn’t repeat his morning heroics when he contested the 100m backstroke semi-finals tonight.

The 21-year-old, who swam a personal best of 53.99s in his heat to grab the final qualifying spot for the semis, was not so quick in the evening.

Swimming in the first of the semis, Main was seventh in 54.29s and ended up 15th overall.
